What Happens During a Session

A session begins with introductions and discussions. This discussion deals with where you are feeling stuck or blocked in your life. This helps with setting an intention before we set up a space. The client will lie on a massage table or the floor (wedge if unable to lie flat) to breathe. The two-stage pranayama breath is 2 breaths in to 1 breath out done in a controlled, meditative manner. The first breath is an exaggerated inhalation into the belly, the second inhalation into the chest, and the exhale lets the breath effortlessly out. The entire breathing process is done through the mouth; breathing through the nose does not allow enough oxygen flow to get the desired result. An eye pillow is used to aid in comfort and a blanket for temperature control. Music is played to guide the session as the client breathes.

Every session is tailored to the individual. The mind will try to stay in control for the first part of the session while the breath does the work. The mind is powerful with it’s thinking, and we wait for the brain to relax with the increase in oxygen.  Some speaking is involved with checking in with how you are feeling, positive affirmations, and releasing energy that no longer serves you. Active breathing takes place from 20-30 minutes followed by 10-15 minutes of relaxation and deep meditation. We finish by getting you grounded followed by answering any questions.

"Breathwork to me, is a way to tap into and release the traumas and stresses that I unknowingly carry in my body. It is a safe, deep, guided meditation that leaves you feeling lighter and more clear, afterward."
